Integration
AvailableFreeAgent invoice reminders your team approves first
Connect FreeAgent read-only, import open and overdue invoices in one click, and run follow-up from a shared queue — with review before anything sends.
Read-only connection. DueTrail never writes anything back to FreeAgent.
How it works
Connect FreeAgent
Approve access in FreeAgent and your company connects straight away. No CSV, no column mapping, no setup project.
Review the queue
Open and overdue invoices become collection cases. Drafts stay out, and nothing is emailed during import or review.
Follow up when ready
Approve reminders one by one or switch on automation once the queue looks right. Every send is logged on the case timeline.
What gets imported
- Open and overdue invoices (drafts are left out)
- Amounts, currencies, and due dates
- Customer names and billing emails (the contact email when there is no billing email)
- Invoice references, so re-imports never create duplicate cases
Already using FreeAgent's reminder emails? Keep them for fresh invoices — or switch them off and let DueTrail run the follow-up with full visibility for your team.
FreeAgent sends reminder emails. DueTrail runs the follow-up.
FreeAgent can email reminders a set number of days before or after the due date, and repeat an overdue one until the invoice is paid. Reminders are switched on invoice by invoice. DueTrail adds the layer your team works in: a shared queue, tracked promises to pay, and approval before anything reaches a customer.
Frequently asked questions
Does DueTrail write anything back to FreeAgent?
No. The connection is read-only: DueTrail imports invoice and contact data and never creates, edits, or sends anything in FreeAgent.
Do I have to turn off FreeAgent's reminder emails?
No. Many teams keep FreeAgent's reminders for fresh invoices and use DueTrail for structured follow-up on overdue ones. If you'd rather run everything from DueTrail, switch FreeAgent's reminders off.
What happens when an invoice is paid in FreeAgent?
Nothing you need to track. The connection syncs automatically every hour: when an invoice is paid in FreeAgent, DueTrail closes the matching case on its own. Right before each reminder goes out, DueTrail also re-checks the invoice in FreeAgent — so a customer who has already paid is never chased. Re-importing is safe too; cases are de-duplicated by invoice. Marking a case paid in DueTrail never touches FreeAgent.
I look after several FreeAgent companies. Can I connect them all?
Yes. Each connection covers one company, and one login can hold a workspace per company, each with its own FreeAgent connection, reminders and plan. You switch between them from the sidebar.
Can I try it without emailing customers?
Yes. You start in Review Mode. You can inspect every case, preview every reminder, and send test emails to yourself before anything goes live.
Not on FreeAgent, or want to start even simpler? DueTrail imports a CSV from any accounting tool. See all integrations →
